GREAT NEW GAME Scrutiny gets its own spot on the Games Wheel

IMPORTANT: Scrutiny will now be shown as its own game on the games wheel. The new game app was on the March Quiz Disc so make sure you have updated. March included 8 games and you will receive a further 8 games each month. The new games will appear in the left window in the app which will make it even easier to select and play the games to make your perfect Games Night.

How Scrutiny works

Scrutiny is a fast paced visual memory game based around fantastic music videos from the Vidimixer library, that will really grab your customer’s attention. Each game will show 10 clips of music videos. The first video will be played, lasting for approximately 25 seconds. While the 2nd video is being played, there will be a question about the previous video, and so on until all 10 videos have been played.

The questions range from “complete the missing word” to “what object was behind Leona Lewis”, and “How many JLS members were wearing bow ties”! This way, you are not just being tested on your knowledge; you are also being tested on observation and memory.

The music videos used in Scrutiny range from the 70s right up to the latest tracks, so there’s something for everyone.

How to play

1. Select the game by hitting the game icon on the left

2. Hit the play button to start the game.

3. Hit the pause button to temporarily stop a game. Hit play again to restart.

4. Hit stop to finish a game.

5. To show answers hit the Answer button, and restart the game by hitting the play button.

6. When finished, hit the Red X at the top right corner of the screen to exit back to the Games wheel.

The instructions can also be found on the right hand side of the game screen.

How would it fit in with the other Quizzes?

Scrutiny has all the latest tracks, and would be perfect to use on your Quiz night. It would go well in a Music Quiz, or even a General Knowledge Quiz.

How many players?

Scrutiny is a team game. It gets everyone involved, trying to remember what happened in the previous video.

Quiz Type

Scrutiny is a test of your knowledge, observation and memory.

Duration

Each round has 10 questions, each at 30 seconds, so 1 game would last roughly 5 minutes. Then a further 5 minutes to go through the answers. 2 rounds can last half an hour+. Don’t forget to give your customers time to get to the bar between games.

How keeping up to date with your Karaoke and SMS books means you beat your competition

Having the latest tracks for your Karaoke Night and making sure your customers know you have them is the best way to ensure they are at your Karaoke night and not your competitions!

As you know Vidimixer is updated monthly. You will receive 30 new Karaoke tracks and 50 new Videos on your update discs.

We’ve made it easy for you to keep your customers up to date with the new tracks on your Vidimixer.

All you need to do is print off the Video and Karaoke insert sheets, available on the Vidimixer Support Website. You can find them on the New This Month page here:

We update these on the website each month so all you need to do is open the new insert sheet, print it off, and put it to the front of your Karaoke/Video books.

This keeps your customers happy as they are able to request or sing the latest music.

Other benefits include, the new tracks can increase the amount of Text Requests coming into the system increasing revenue and adding more numbers to your SMS database which you can then, in turn, text back out to promote your Vidimixer events.

Recent improvements to how we receive your help desk requests


We have recently made an improvement to the way we receive your out of hours helpdesk requests.

Vidimixer office hours are 9:30-5:30 Monday-Friday but If you need to call outside these hours you can. You will, however, be diverted to leave a voicemail. Your message will then be transcribed to text and emailed directly to our online helpdesk http://vidimixer.zendesk.com. Your request is then sent to all the relevant members of the Vidimixer team.

We have been able to achieve this by implementing voice transcription software.

The benefits of this recent improvement are:

  • All engineers are notified of the out of hours help desk request – meaning a rapid fix is likely.
  • We can plan a response for your request before calling you speeding up solution time.
  • You no longer need to email us to get out of hours support.

If you leave a voicemail it is important that you speak clearly, so that all of the information we need is received, allowing us to diagnose the problem as quickly and efficiently as possible. You should leave your name, pub name, phone number and a description of the problem/question.

We check helpdesk regularly and at 12pm and 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

How to use the Vidimixer Advert Manager to maximise sales.

Marketing your events is just as important as actually doing the events themselves! The Advert Manager on the Vidimixer is the perfect way to let your customers know what you are doing for them. This includes events and promotions.

Getting the Images to use in your Adverts

You can use the adverts provided to you by Vidimixer each month, or you can even use your own. The Vidimixer adverts are on the Quiz disc, so make sure you update! Each month you will find pictures that are relevant for that month. For example, the February update had images to use for Valentines Day.

You can also import your own images to use in adverts. To do this you need to put your images onto a USB stick, put the stick into the Tower, and go to Advert Importer which can be found in Vidimixer Tools. You will then find your USB stick on the Import Adverts window. Next, Select the images you wish to transfer to the Vidimixer. These images will be found in the Imported Adverts folder in Advert Manager.

Remember

 

  • It is important you get all of the details for your event or promotion into your advert, so your customers know when to go, what time, and what they can expect. It is a good idea to put any offers or prizes you’ll have on in large text, to ensure your customers see the advert and want to attend your event.
  • There are also drinks logos and football logos which you can use to advertise.

Scheduling your Adverts

 

Once your adverts are complete, you then need to schedule them. You have the option to choose how often you want to your adverts to play, and also how long for. Press the Settings button in Advert Manager to see these options. You also have the option of enabling/disabling adverts, and creating a loop of adverts, meaning they will play continuously on screen.

Simply drag the adverts you wish to play on screen from the Installed Adverts box on the right hand side and into the Active Adverts box on the left hand side. Then click OK.

Submitting a helpdesk query the easy way!

Did you know you can now submit a help desk query (we call them tickets) on our new online Vidimixer help desk software?

It’s designed to make things easier for you to contact us and to make us more efficient at handling your queries. You can find The Vidimixer Helpdesk at http://vidimixer.zendesk.com

Here you will find our Knowledge base which is packed with useful information that you can easily search to get either a quick fix for a problem or some useful advice on using Vidimixer or hosting a great events. Click here for more information on the knowledge base.

However, if you can’t find what you’re looking for you can always submit a ticket and we’ll be notified that you would like our assistance.

To submit a ticket, simply open http://vidimixer.zendesk.com . Click Submit A Request. If this is your first ticket, you will be asked to enter your e-mail address, name, Pub Name, and preferred Contact Number.

Your ticket will then be automatically e-mailed to all of the Vidimixer helpdesk team, who will respond as soon as possible. We check helpdesk at 12pm and 4pm on weekends.

You can submit a ticket on weekends and out of office hours, or anytime if you prefer to e-mail instead of call. You can also email us a query by sending your query to support@vidimixer.zendesk.com.

Once you have submitted your ticket, you will then be sent an e-mail with instructions on registering to the Helpdesk. By doing this, you will gain access to your requests, comments, the knowledge base and more. It also makes submitting future tickets easier as you won’t need to add your details again.
